PEZA and PE2 join forces to enable energy efficiency among ecozone locators

PASAY CITY, 20 October 2025 – Top officials of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) met earlier today to explore ways to work together as enablers of energy efficiency investments among locators in economic zones.

Both parties discussed the possibility of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would promote and catalyze business-to-business (B2B) for energy efficiency capital investments through energy service company (ESCO) performance contracts and for the deployment of innovative energy efficiency technologies and solutions.

PE2 sought to work closely with PEZA to see how mobilized resources for the conduct of investment-grade energy audits can translate to accelerated self-financed or ESCO-financed energy efficiency improvements, especially those cooling- and heat-intensive industries in the various PEZA industrial parks.

PE2 likewise sought to align the shared objective of improving the responsiveness of fiscal incentives under the CREATE MORE Act through investment promotion agencies such as PEZA.

PEZA was represented by Director General Tereso O. Panga and Special Concerns Division Chief Mark Anthony Santos.

The PE2 delegation was composed of PE2 president Alexander Ablaza, PE2 vice president for external affairs Theresa Acedillo-Lapuz, PE2 policy, advocacy and external affairs advisor Archie Diaz and PE2 secretariat manager Hazel Planco.

Ablaza said, “Increased energy efficiency investments will make our exporters more competitive in the global market. The more efficient their energy use is, the better the chances of multinational manufacturers to optimize production outputs of our ecozone locators.”
