AmCham taps PE2 to steer multi-sectoral dialogue during 9th Annual Energy Forum

PASAY CITY, August 13, 2026 — The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) invited Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) President and Climargy CEO Alexander Ablaza to serve as a panel moderator today at AmCham’s 9th Annual Energy Forum, which gathered key government and industry stakeholders for a discussion on the country’s evolving power sector. Held at the Manila Marriott Hotel under the theme “Powering Through the 2026 Energy Disruption: Strategies for Resilience, Recovery, and Transition,” the forum examined critical issues surrounding energy security, grid resilience, investment, and the Philippines’ energy transition.

Ablaza was tapped to steer the discussions of the panel discussion, “Energy Market Response: Market Reactions, Opportunities, and Investments.” He asked multiple stakeholders, which included the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Board of Investments (BOI), the Philippine Independent Power Producers Association (PIPPA), Green Tiger Markets, BDO Capital & Investment Corporation (BDO Capital) and the Department of Energy (DOE) Electric Power Industry Management Bureau (EPIMB), to exchange views on their distinct market response and adaptation to the energy supply shocks triggered by the US-Iran conflict, and how the sector can attract new investments and enact new policies toward long-term resilience.

Joining Ablaza in the panel discussion were ERC Dir. Sharon O. Montañer, BOI Executive Director Ma. Corazon H. Dichosa, PIPPA President Atty. Anne Estorco-Montelibano, Green Tiger Markets President Carlos Korten, BDO Capital First Vice President Barbara Billano and DOE-EPIMB Division Chief Noriel Christopher R. Reyes of the Power Market Development Division.

AmCham’s invitation of PE2 to this annual energy event underscores the imperative to sustain the market momentum of deploying energy efficiency and demand-side solutions as important components of a resilient and sustainable energy system.

AmCham has been active in monitoring business issues and provides a platform for discussion among key public and private stakeholders. The Chamber’s commitments in advancing our shared interests are manifested by the active involvement of its specialized committees and policy advocacies. Spearheaded by the Energy and Power Committee, the AmCham Annual 9th Energy Forum 2026 convened senior representatives from government, industry, and the financial sector to examine critical developments shaping the Philippine energy landscape amid persistent global and domestic disruptions. Anchored on energy security and resilience, the forum provided high-level updates on legislative priorities, policy directions, and market outlooks, complemented by panel discussions on fuel supply dynamics, regulatory responses, investment frameworks, and the transition toward a more diversified and sustainable energy mix.

The 9th Annual Energy Forum was designed to facilitate strategic dialogue among key stakeholders, align priorities, and advance collaborative approaches to strengthening the country’s long-term energy security and system resilience. Its sessions were planned to: (1) provide a high-level platform for government and private sector stakeholders to present and assess current legislative, policy, and regulatory developments affecting the Philippine energy sector; (2) facilitate strategic discussions on critical issues including energy security, fuel supply stability, market dynamics, and investment conditions amid ongoing energy disruptions; and, (3) promote multi-sector collaboration in advancing practical and forward-looking solutions that support a more resilient, diversified, and sustainable energy system for the Philippines.
