PE2 steps up EE pitch during 2nd World Clean Energy PH

QUEZON CITY, 17 August 2023 – The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) bolstered its advocacy push for energy efficiency (EE) market growth by prominently leading panel discussions during today’s opening of the 2nd World Clean Energy Philippines event at Novotel, Araneta City in Cubao.

PE2 explained the critical role of energy efficiency in corporate-led GHG emission reductions during the opening panel discussion, “Driving Carbon Neutrality in the Private Sector.” PE2 president Alexander Ablaza joined panel moderator PE2 Vice President for Internal Affairs and Upgrade Energy CEO Ruth Yu-Owen and other panelists, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) National Programme Manager Mae Valdez-Irong, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC) Executive Director Angelo Kairos Dela Cruz, and Energy Development Corporation Assistant Vice President and Head of Corporate Relations and Communications Atty. Allan Barcena in an animated exchange of views on how private sector players are gradually progressing toward carbon-neutral futures.

Later that morning, PE2 president and Climargy CEO Alexander Ablaza led a discussion, “Facilitating a Just Energy Transition” with panelists BDO Unibank Vice President and Sustainability Office Head Marla Garin-Alvarez, Global Reporting Initiative Country Manager Katreena Pillejera and Energy Regulatory Commission Renewable Energy Division Chief Jayson Corpuz.

PE2 Trustee Colin Steley (representing the Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance in the event), and PE2 member presenters Pierre-Yves Lecoanet of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Josemari Lorenzo of Shell Pilipinas Corporation and Tonichi Agoncillo of Meralco also served as resource persons during the conference.

PE2 was an official event partner of the 2nd World Clean Energy Philippines Conference. The event was supported by the Department of Energy and UNIDO. Attended by over 600 delegates across both days, the event played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration among industry players, propelling the energy transition towards achieving a net-zero future.
