PE2, PH infra officials meet Swedish trade minister

MAKATI CITY, 18 May 2023 – Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) president Alexander Ablaza joined other energy and transport market stakeholders in a welcome dinner hosted by the Embassy of Sweden in Manila, led by Ambassador Annika Thunborg and Trade Commissioner Kristina Elinder Liljas, for visiting Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell. The visit of Minister Forssell was aimed to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Sweden in trade and direct investments.

Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla and Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara of the Department of Energy led Philippine Government officials during the event. Officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Transportation and the National Power Corporation, as well as private sector developers, business leaders, the academe and civil society, were also present.

“With its 110 million inhabitants, young and educated workforce, and dynamic development, the Philippines is an interesting market in its own right and as an important part of Swedish companies’ global value chains,” Minister Forssell stated.

There are about 40 Swedish companies present in the Philippines today, with more indicating an interest in doing business in the country.
