PE2, other APEIA members visit leading compressor maker in Taiwan to explore CAS potential for ESCOs
TAIPEI, 1 August 2019 – Joining 5 other member representatives of the Asia-Pacific ESCO Industry Alliance (APEIA) from China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) president and APEIA co-chair Alexander Ablaza visited one of two dozen manufacturing plants of Fusheng Industrial (FSI) on the sidelines of an international ESCO seminar hosted by the Taiwan Green Productivity Foundation (TGPF) and the Bureau of Energy of the Republic of China.
The plant visit by the regional ESCO industry representatives equipped the APEIA participants with a deeper understanding of how compressed air system (CAS) upgrades in industrial facilities can deliver significant energy savings for ESCOs and their customers.
Established in 1953, the Fusheng Group now has 24 production facilities, 13,760 employees and with an annual turnover exceeding USD 1.2 billion. FSI is a world-class maker of CAS technologies, which include a broad spectrum of industrial compressed air solutions, air conditioning refrigerant compressors, blowers and generators. Compressed air solutions range from reciprocating, rotary screw, centrifugal, scroll and specialty compressors, to air treatment products and compressor control systems. In the last 2 decades, it acquired and established compressor manufacturing operations in the USA (FS-Elliot, FS-Curtis), Germany (CVS-engineering, Almig) and entered in a joint venture with a Japanese maker to form FS-Airman. In 2017, FSI introduced the two-stage screw compressor. Other Fusheng business units include Fusheng Precision, which performs precision casting for golf club heads, aviation parts, car parts and medical products. It also owns Fusheng Electronics, which manufactures IC and LED lead frames.
FSI reported that their comprehensive baseline compressed air system surveys typically include energy savings estimates calculated from ultrasonic leak detection. They showcased a compressed air system energy-saving case study for a ceramic ware manufacturer in Cavite, Hocheng Philippines Corporation. A 24.4% energy saving and two-year payback of the capital investments in 3 new compressors and dryer were the key results of the showcased case study.
The multinational participants from APEIA had further discussions on how they could support the needs of ESCOs across Asian markets. FSI said that they were interested to grow the market in the Philippines through their two authorized dealers.
