PE2 inspects NAIA T2 substations anew to finalize GEMP pilot proposal
PASAY CITY, 31 January 2019 – The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) performed today an ocular inspection of the power substations of Terminal 2 (T2) of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). This was conducted as a preparatory milestone to help PE2 formalize an offer to donate to the Philippine Government, through the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), a pilot energy monitoring system project under the DOE-led Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).
The activity was planned during the meeting of DOE, MIAA, PE2 and PLDT held on 18 January 2019.
Representing the PE2 team were: Richard Uy, Reynaldo del Mundo, Jay Rick Reyes and Luigi Eusebio. PLDT was represented by Chester Aldrene Reyes. Ready to assist were MIAA’s T2 facility operations & maintenance engineers Gerardo Aguilar and Danilo Espano.
The inspection enabled the PE2 team to validate and improve the pilot system architecture, this time integrating the cloud-based energy monitoring platform and the smart-metering infrastructure with a proposed wireless communication solution.
The PE2 team inspected the existing medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems and telecommunications equipment in the main and 3 satellite power substations of T2.
