MAKATI CITY, 11 June 2020 – The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) and AHK Philippinen (more popularly known locally as the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry or GPCCI) met earlier today to kick off discussions to explore collaborative opportunities related to energy efficiency.

Earlier in the week, PE2 president Alexander Ablaza and GPCCI Executive Director Dr. Martin Henkelmann exchanged messages, almost a year after a meeting during a PE2 presentation on the new Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Act in a meeting of partner organizations of the EU Delegation to the Philippines. Ablaza then held a more detailed discussion today with GPCCI Deputy Executive Director Charlotte Bandelow, who also heads trade promotion for DE Philippines.

Ablaza briefed GPCCI on the membership structure, advocacies and initiatives of PE2. Bandelow informed PE2 about the energy efficiency webinar on 30 June 2020. The webinar kicks off German Energy Week, which offers virtual knowledge events on energy efficiency, management and operations for the Philippines, and individual B2B meetings with German representatives for business exploration.

Both PE2 and GPCCI have also began to discuss the proposal for a reciprocal associate membership arrangement between both organizations.

GPCCI considers the Philippines as one of the upcoming, largest and fastest growing economies. Since its foundation in 2008, GPCCI remained determined to support the growth of the Philippine economy. The chamber promotes bilateral trade by supporting the market entry of German companies and represent Germany as strongest economic partner from Europe. It strongly believes in upholding its mission to serve as a working platform for the German business community and promote German companies, products and services.
