MAKATI CITY, 5 February 2020 – The Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) participated in a Development Partners’ Forum on Sustainable Energy, hosted earlier today at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel by the British Embassy.

The forum provided development partners and other sustainable energy market stakeholders an opportunity to be informed of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) priorities and programs in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors. The event likewise enabled development partners to continue inter-agency dialogue that would help in deconflicting any potential overlaps and properly align respective programs in these areas.

Among the development partners present were the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), EU Delegation to the Philippines, EU Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (EU-ASEP), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), UK ASEAN Low Carbon Emission Programme (represented by Ernst & Young and Carbon Trust), UK Prosperity Fund (through the UK Foreign and Commercial Office), UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Embassy.

Dr. Rebecca Shah, First Secretary and Head of External, Prosperity and Communications Section of the British Embassy, opened the forum. DOE Senior Usec. Jesus Cristino P. Posadas presented the overarching policy directions of the Philippine Government as far as sustainable energy is concerned. Directors Patrick T. Aquino and Mylene Capongcol delivered presentations on DOE’s energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, respectively.

PE2 was represented by PE2 president Alexander Ablaza and by Luigi Eusebio of the PE2 Secretariat.
